Bio
Matthew Billek, known in the art world as Mat Hue, is a traveling glassblowing instructor with a deep love for movement, balance, and creative expression. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Appalachian State University in North Carolina and uses his work to inspire others through color, form, and experience.
Inspired by the natural world and the tactile beauty of pottery, his favorite color combinations often mirror organic tones — earthy, fluid, and grounded. For Matthew, the process is just as important as the product. He’s fueled by a philosophy that reminds him:
“We have no limits to our world; we're only limited by our own imagination.”
A lifelong admirer of Bob Ross, Matthew channels that same gentle encouragement into his work as an instructor. His calm presence and creative energy make each workshop both approachable and inspiring.
If you could hear his work, it might sound like Radiohead’s “Jigsaw Falling Into Place” or Ocean Man by Ween — a little offbeat, deeply emotional, and full of motion.
When he’s not working with fire and glass, Matthew stays physically active and curious — always seeking movement, growth, and new perspectives.
Right now, he’s all in. As a young artist with momentum on his side, he’s committed to pushing forward — learning, sharing, and letting the road shape what comes next.
